more about my background
I was born in Virginia and spent most of my childhood in Seoul, South Korea. Before starting my PhD, I studied business as an undergraduate and earned a Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree at Korea University. My background in law helped build my logical thinking and interdisciplinary lens. I decided to pursue PhD because I have always had a deep interest in seeking knowledge and asking questions about various phenomena.
I have experience in management consulting at Deloitte Korea, where I worked directly with managing partners to design a strategic initiative for the new Startup Advisory Group. I was responsible for creating and launching various initiatives, such as Deloitte Demo Day - a startup pitch competition held in South Korea and Japan - and expanding the group's global investor network, which involved collaboration with VCs and accelerators in Silicon Valley. This experience has been a significant source of my research interest in Entrepreneurship and has shaped my belief of engaging with industry practitioners as a scholar. When I am not learning something new, I love to explore areas around Chapel Hill and enjoy the Carolina weather. I have a lot of hobbies, such as tennis, knitting and crochet! |
